    Publishing and domains

Publish with one click, choose your web address, and connect your own domain step by step. Hosting, SSL and updates are included.

    How publishing works

Publish lives in the editor's top bar. When you hit it, Kreativ takes a snapshot of your site and serves that to visitors. You can keep working afterwards: your changes stay private until you publish again, and the top bar shows Unpublished changes whenever your live site is behind your draft.

That separation means you can redesign, experiment with templates or rewrite pages without visitors ever seeing a construction site.

A published Kreativ site in the browser
Your published site stays online while you keep working.

    Your free Kreativ address

Every site starts on a free Kreativ subdomain, so you can go live the moment your site is ready. Under Website, open Domain and choose your name in the Live subdomain field. Kreativ checks availability as you type and tells you immediately whether the name is free.

It is a real, shareable address with SSL included, and it keeps working even after you connect your own domain.

Connecting your own domain, step by step

You can connect a domain you own, so your portfolio lives at your own address. Kreativ handles the SSL certificate, and your Kreativ subdomain keeps working alongside it. The whole process takes about ten minutes plus some waiting on DNS:

    1. 1

Get a domain. If you do not own one yet, register it at any registrar you like, for example your own name with .com or .nl.

    2. 2

In your dashboard, go to Website and open the Domain settings. Type your domain without www, for example yourstudio.com, and click Add.

    3. 3

Kreativ now shows you the exact DNS records to create, with copy buttons for each value. A root domain (yourstudio.com) needs an A record; a subdomain such as www needs a CNAME record. You do not have to figure any of this out yourself, the values are on screen.

    4. 4

Log in at your registrar (where you bought the domain) and open its DNS settings. Add the records exactly as shown: copy each type, name and value from Kreativ and paste it into a new record at the registrar. Save.

    5. 5

Back in Kreativ, click the check button next to your domain. The status starts at Waiting for DNS; changes usually go through within minutes, but they can take up to a day depending on your registrar.

    6. 6

When the status turns to Live, you are done. The SSL certificate is issued automatically, and your site is now served at your own address.

Is the status stuck on Needs verification? That means the domain is in use elsewhere. Kreativ then shows one extra TXT record to prove you own the domain. Add it at your registrar just like the others and check again.

    Several domains, one primary

You can connect more than one domain and mark one as Primary: that is the address your site canonically lives at. Until a primary domain is live, your site simply keeps using its Kreativ subdomain, so there is never a moment where your site is unreachable.

    What is included

Hosting, SSL certificates and platform updates are all part of Kreativ. There is no server to maintain, no plugin to update and no separate hosting bill. Your site is served fast and responsive on every device.
